lord,that i might receive

LORD, THAT I MIGHT RECEIVE

(Mark 10:46 NKJV) "Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging."

(Mark 10:47 NKJV) "And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!""

(Mark 10:48 NKJV) "Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!""

(Mark 10:49 NKJV) "So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, "Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.""

(Mark 10:50 NKJV) "And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus."

(Mark 10:51 NKJV) "So Jesus answered and said to him, "What do you want Me to do for you?" The blind man said to Him, "Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.""

(Mark 10:52 NKJV) "Then Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your faith has made you well." And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road."

Can you imagine the joy of expectancy when the Lord said, "What would you like for me to do."
Just think ---- Being in the company of a great and powerful person and they turn to you and say, "What would you like for me to do for you?"
This man, surrounded by many people who could not meet his need, was suddenly ushered into the very presence of the Son of God. He was moved from a position of fear and despair to a place of faith and expectation. He had to make the right choice emotionally and mentally in order to receive the spiritual and physical miracle of healing.
Bartimaeus, could have said :

"Lord, I need you to talk to my family about my condition."

Or, "Lord, I need you to tell the Priest (Pastor) to be nicer to me."

Or, "Lord, I need you to tell the insurance company to renew my health insurance."

Or, ……. Well, you get the picture.

People often fail to give the right answer to the Lord's inquiry.
We are often distracted by other people, by the circumstances, or by the problem itself.
Let's try this scenario. You are Bartimaeus. You're desperate for an answer to the problem which has plagued your life for many years. No one has been able to help you. Your family, your friends, the community, your church …. No one.
And then Jesus passes by. He makes no move toward you. In fact, He is passing by. What are you going to do? What are you going to say?
The crowd is smothering Him with attention- the air is thick with excitement - voices shout for His ear - He is moving fast and will soon be gone.
How will you make yourself heard over the commotion?
How will you create the possibility of a miracle?
How will you make Him know you need His help?

Your correct answer to these questions will set the stage for your miracle.

Bartimaeus teaches us some important principles of faith.

You must be acutely aware of what you need from the Lord.

You must be willing to cry out to Him for help.

You must be unaffected by those who surround you.

You must hear His question.

You must give the right answer. (What do you want to receive?)

You must receive what your faith has accomplished for you.
