MY LITTLE PLUS GOD'S TOUCH EQUALS MUCH
Heb 11:33-40 (KJV) "Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. 35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: 36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: 37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; 38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. 39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: 40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect."
1 Cor 1:25-29 (KJV) "Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence."
INTRODUCTION:
The highest call in a man or woman's life is to do the will of God.
David
, the writer of the Psalms said,Psa 40:8 (KJV) "I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart."
The Apostle
John announced,1 John 2:17 (KJV) "And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."
Jesus
, our Lord, declared,John 6:38 (KJV) "For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me."
We live in a generation in which many Christians have forgotten, or never known, the sublime joy of pleasing God....of having their soul ministered to by the Holy Spirit....of knowing that "all is well" because they have placed everything under God's control.
Christians are being bombarded with techniques and ideas which are supposed to lift their humanity to almost Godlike capabilities.
Self-esteem, self-actualization, self-talk, possibility thinking, self-affirmation, self-worth, positive self-image, and many other similar words are the vocabulary of a new breed of Christians.
They have been taught that goodness and purity, worth and destiny come from within the human spirit so consequently God is irrelevant and unnecessary.
The Apostle
Paul contradicts this vain and ego-centered philosophy in Romans 7:18, where he states,Rom 7:18 (KJV) "For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not."
In fact, let's read through verse 25....
Rom 7:19-25 (KJV) "For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. 22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin."
Which brings me to the heart of my message which is : Our sufficiency is of God and not ourselves!
BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF GOD USING SMALL THINGS FOR HIS GLORY
**
Moses had nothing but a shepherds' rod but God used it and the Israelites were delivered out of Egypt.**
The widow in 1st Kings 17, only had a handful of meal, a little oil, and some sticks. God touched it and nourished the Prophet Elijah, saved she and her son from starvation.**
Samson had only the jawbone of a donkey, but God touched it and Samson slew one thousand Philistines with it. Then God quenched Samson's thirst by causing a spring of fresh water to come forth out of that very jawbone.**
David picked up five smooth stones and went out to confront Goliath. God touched the first one and Goliath went down and Israel had a mighty deliverance.** The
little boy had five loaves and two fish, but God touched it and fed thousands.
THE ABILITY IS NOT IN US, NOR IS IT IN THE INSTRUMENT OR MATERIAL WE POSSESS....IT IS IN THE POWER AND TOUCH OF THE LORD,.
Remember, "My little plus God's touch equals much!"
A. Make what you have available to God. Dedicate it to Him.
B. He will touch and anoint WHAT HE HAS CHOSEN TO USE.
C. You will enjoy the victory and success but the glory must always be His!
