THE IMPORTANCE OF GOD’S CALL IN YOUR LIFE
(Neh 4:12 NKJV) "So it was, when the Jews who dwelt near them came, that they told us ten times, "From whatever place you turn, they will be upon us.""
(Neh 4:13 NKJV) "Therefore I positioned men behind the lower parts of the wall, at the openings; and I set the people according to their families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows."
(Neh 4:14 NKJV) "And I looked, and arose and said to the nobles, to the leaders, and to the rest of the people, "Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.""
(Neh 4:15 NKJV) "And it happened, when our enemies heard that it was known to us, and that God had brought their plot to nothing, that all of us returned to the wall, everyone to his work."
(Neh 4:16 NKJV) "So it was, from that time on, that half of my servants worked at construction, while the other half held the spears, the shields, the bows, and wore armor; and the leaders were behind all the house of Judah."
(Neh 4:17 NKJV) "Those who built on the wall, and those who carried burdens, loaded themselves so that with one hand they worked at construction, and with the other held a weapon."
(Neh 4:18 NKJV) "Every one of the builders had his sword girded at his side as he built. And the one who sounded the trumpet was beside me."
(Neh 4:19 NKJV) "Then I said to the nobles, the rulers, and the rest of the people, "The work is great and extensive, and we are separated far from one another on the wall."
(Neh 4:20 NKJV) ""Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally to us there. Our God will fight for us.""
(Neh 4:21 NKJV) "So we labored in the work, and half of the men held the spears from daybreak until the stars appeared."
(Neh 4:22 NKJV) "At the same time I also said to the people, "Let each man and his servant stay at night in Jerusalem, that they may be our guard by night and a working party by day.""
(Neh 4:23 NKJV) "So neither I, my brethren, my servants, nor the men of the guard who followed me took off our clothes, except that everyone took them off for washing."
(Prov 29:18 NKJV) "Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law."
(1 Cor 12:25 NKJV) "that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another."
(Tell story of Nehemiah and the call to rebuild the wall.)
God has given us a great call and vision. He has done so with an eternal purpose in mind.
WHY?
For the many souls to be won.
For the healing of people’s bodies and spirits.
Far the mending of families.
For the fellowship of His people.
For the building of His Kingdom.
For the propagation of His Word.
As Nehemiah was required to build in the face of the attack of the enemy, so are we!
NOTE:
Some held the weapons while the others worked. Very significant principle. Requires common purpose, determination, and trust.A. Satan wants to destroy the vision for greatness in your life.
1. He seeks access to the throne-room of your spirit.
2. He wants God’s work in you to be stopped.
3. He wants your work for God to appear unimportant and futile.
B. How does Satan accomplish his purpose?
1. Self pity.
2. The need for attention and recognition.
3. Dissatisfaction with the responsibilities of your calling.
4. Through fractured friendships and confidences.
5. Unsteady feet and questionable character.
C. What happens in your life when if Satan is winning the battle?
1. The passion and drive you had to make your life really count for God becomes very weak.
2. You see only faults and failures in your Christian friends.
3. Your love for the church weakens as your love for the world becomes stronger.
4. Your prayer life and Bible Study is set aside.
5. You grow discontented with the fellowship of other Christians.
D. What does God tell us to counter-act this satanic assault?
1. (Prov 3:5 NKJV) "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;"
2. We must understand that God knows where we are in relationship to His calling on our life. Whereas, we may forget or dishonor His call, He never forgets the call He has put on our life and He wants it to be fulfilled --- even more than we do.
3. (Prov 3:6 NKJV) "In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths."
E. God makes your calling fruitful. Don’t allow pride, an un-forgiving heart, an arrogant spirit or a helpless and hopeless attitude steal your calling.
1. Don’t allow your affections and love to be fragmented.
2. Work where you are and do what you can do.
3. Be faithful in small things.
4. Don’t compare your calling with someone else.
F. God has given
you a calling and He wants you to do it.1. No one can stand in your place.
2. our talents and abilities, personality and life, are the tools with which you accomplish your calling.
3. Don’t let anything or anyone drown out, cover, or destroy the call God has put upon your life.
