THE LIFE CHANGING TOUCH OF JESUS
Mark 5:25-34
There are many instances in the Bible when Jesus touched people and dramatically changed them.
For example:
Peter’s mother in Matt. 8:15; the leper in Matt. 8:3; the blind men in Matt. 9:29; deaf and dumb man in Mark 7:33, and many others. I have chosen this text because His touch was indirect and yet produced a life changing effect in the life of this little sick woman.
I have also chosen this passage in order to reflect upon the tremendous statement in the 33rd verse ..... "...
knowing what was done in her... "At other times I have spoken of the longevity of her affliction. I have preached about her courage in coming to Jesus. I have also pointed out the insensitivity of the disciples.
But tonight, I want to talk about this phrase ... "... knowing what was done in her ... "
A. She was aware of what had been done in her body. SHE was aware.
1. She did not need the confirmation of others to know that she had been divinely touched by Jesus.
2. She did not require Jesus to do anything to prove His power.
B. Her recognition of the power of Jesus caused an awesome fear to overwhelm her.
1. She fell before Him, emptying her heart of all it’s hurts and bitterness.
2. She was not ashamed to tell everything to Jesus.
C. She met a loving and compassionate Savior.
1. He was moved by her unyielding faith.
2. She was healed and went away whole and at peace.
D. Our need is not unlike this women’s. We need Him to touch us in His power so that there is no doubt in our heart that He has ministered to us.
1. We cannot depend on the crowd to touch Him for us.
2. We cannot depend on other Christians to touch Him for us.
3. We cannot depend on the disciples to touch Him for us.
4. We must touch Him for ourselves.
E. But when we do ...... everything changes.
1. Our need is met.
2. Our pain is gone. (physical or emotional)
3. Our hope is restored.
4. We leave His presence whole.
